Tinplate?

I wouldn't mind picking up a tinplate set for the Christmas tree. Especially if it has some kind of command control. That's especially appealing for me as I can sit on the couch and use it. I've been wanting a set for under the tree but struggle to pick one.

A super shiny Polar Express Tinplate set (preferably O gauge) but a basic (Loco, tender, plus 2 or 3 passenger cars) Standard Gauge passenger set would sell well IMHO.  Lionel and MTH should have worked out a win/win share the wealth arrangement when they still had their Lionel Corporation Tinplate licensing agreement.  Unfortunately there was likely too much stubbornness by both parties.

That could definitely be win-win and it would be something I'm interested in.

I saw the cover of the 2022 Vol. 2 catalog from a recent email from Lionel! Looks like we’re getting some Early Union Pacific Challengers!!

good lord lionel has been killing it with all the new tooling recently

first the 90 then the class A and now early challengers. jesus christ i need a million dollars and o 72 curves these catalogs are getting crazy and i'm a little overwhelmed. large steam and obscure road names are my biggest weakness and it is getting harder for me to view these catalogs with out being a little sad that i can't bring stuff like this to the top brass of the Allegheny and Willow Point.

I was wondering what that engine is! I thought maybe Berkshires or a C&O T1 but I think I can see a second piston housing/chamber. Did MTH make early Challengers or is this new Lionel tooling? I have been under the impression that only 3rd Rail did the early Challengers.

hey @N&WGuy is it okay for me to make a video talking about these for youtube yet embargo wise ?

i don't want lionel to give my channel a strike

Yeah, you should be alright. This catalog cover is from a Lionel email to everyone who’s signed up for their news letters so it’s something that they’ve leaked. They won’t bother you about it!

This is a joke to entertain so please don't take this seriously:

My wish is for the catalogue to be a blank so I am not enticed to buy something I can ill afford, which I have done on numerous occasions during the past 25 years.

This is a compliment to the major O Gauge manufacturers who make wonderful things I often find irresistible. Arnold

for me that catalog could contain NOTHING i asked for and i will still want something from it because its a book of model trains and i will always find something in that book irresistable even though i may be miles away from affording it. i'm still looking at you Class A and New Hope and Ivyland set.
