The Pullman posted:  "I wouldn't necessarily count out the I1" What tooling does Lionel have for this, certainly NOT the old RailKing decapod tooling? It scaled out exactly to 1/64 and looked out of place on O gauge wheels, especially with the long haul tender.

I didn't know if the RailKing I1 had scaling issues or not. I know that MTH made a Railking decapod, but that's it.

i may have to stay in my room with the door shut on the 15th when i see the catalog

because i have a feeling something in this catalog is gonna make me get kicked out of joyner library especially when just the cover makes me squeal like a southern pacific pig palace loaded past capacity being pulled by a GS6 and sandwiched between a pennsy horse car packed with thoroughbreds and a north pole central rein deer car with all 8 of santa's reindeer

especially with the rumours i've been hearing

i would like to see the end of built to order too it makes us poor guys miss out on stuff we can't order right then and it makes replacements harder if not impossible to get.

Well, in my book Cody gets the award for the best prose ever written in this forum.

I would say we're going to have to wait until the catalogs are in our hands to know more to at least form questions to ask when Ryan and Dave go through the catalog on Monday. I'm sort of hoping it will be a non-tempting catalog for me, but that is going to be real hard. It would have to be steam light and diesel heavy, nothing in my scope of what I would want. That being said, I have bent on some things I didn't think I would go for in the past.

Dave i'm gonna be in trouble if there is a lot of lionchief plus 2.0 like the last catalog . ive wanted an lc2.0 engine since 2019 but keep having to miss out because of cash being low or just my godfather saying for me to wait.

my patience is running thin and i have 18 grand of student debt plus alot of health scares right now that are making me think that i may have to give up on my dream

plus the world is terrifying

i wish i could escape to my happy place of Allegheny City with my Character Fenix Starr. i would hang out in her massive house and run my dream lionel trains like lionchief plus 2.0 engines and sets in her parlor with snow falling outside and not a worry in the world.

Take a page from the movie The Score with Robert De Niro and Edward Norton. In it he tells Norton to make a list of all the things he wants, and slowly get what you want over time. There have been a number of things that I have missed out on before coming back to the hobby, and I have slowly made ground on getting a certain number of those things as well as some things that I found appealing after seeing them. I have had a bunch of things go backwards last year as far as income, that is going to other things that required it that were far more important. That continued further into this year and I have had to make great sacrifices for some things that I sort of knew I wouldn't be able to get done or do. I can live with that, and it is probably better to let things go in that regard.

That being said, I will either find one or two things(if there is anything in the catalog I want) and that will have to be it. That is why I am being so hopeful for nothing. If there is a great number of diesels, that will help me out overall, and typically the second catalog is thinner as it were for high expense items. So, we shall see in a few days if I have to sigh, or make choices for one or two things that I may want. Bottom line, I can take a break on the catalog, and focus more on other things that need my attention.

Also, live the dream of being a student to get onto an education to grant you more wiggle room later in life. There are a great number of things that will open and help you achieve dreams yet to be had. It may be hard to keep the focus on these things, but it is far better to do that, than end up regretting something far more important later on in life. Cheers

When it was introduced in the 1990's the traditional O gauge diesel-electric locomotive model was specifically described by the people at LIONEL as a GP38-2/GP39-2 on the instruction sheet included.

The GP38 is an earlier model.

Andrew

yeah its actually also a gp39-2 because it has a turbo exaust large exaust stack and a normal gp38 would have 2 exaust ports that are smaller . i have the hotwheels version and i refer to it as a GP39 on my roster spread sheet i can't put the -2 in there or my exel sheet goes crazy

i also know the lionel gp20 is just a chop nosed gp7 as well

I would like to see a LionChief Plus 2.0 Vanderbilt, a LionChief Plus 2.0 Hiawatha Streamliner, a LionChief Plus 2.0, C&O Yellow Streamline Hudson, and a FT starter set in Union Pacific City of Los Angeles.  But not all in one catalog, I do have a budget and choosing one or two would be difficult.
