I actually have a little "extension" board that I built to just stick the encoder chip in the motor and remote the Chuff-Generator board. I'd take a picture of the real board, but I used them, have to get another few made. You just cut the end to make it fit and wire the four connections to the sensor connections of the Chuff-Generator.
It looks like the Chuff-Generator board could lay right here.
I would be very interested in that board. I thought it was bigger.
My wife preordered me one for Christmas at my local train store. I talked to him today, it is shipping on Monday.
As to the concerns about LC+ 2.0, I have a PRR RS3 that I bought a while ago. Haven't had much time with it all. When the addition was finished and the table set up and after the Christmas layout was done I started testing my engines. The RS3 developed a horrible noise which I posted about but no one replied. I dropped it at the train store for its out of warranty repair last week. It is due back this week. At the same time as I pickup the 0-6-0T. Worries me a bit.

The board is bigger, but I can put a very small board on the flywheel if I needed to. However, it would be even better if there was a way to capture the chuff signal from the board and drive the smoke fan using that.
My issue with the LionChief RS3's is that they have those EMD trucks on them, with steps that extend beyond the frames. It's a shame because I'd love to pull the trigger on the PRR and B&M versions!

Here's a quick and dirty cell phone video shot on my half dismantled Christmas layout so I could show the new 0-6-0T with smoke running. It smokes like a champ, albeit without any chuff.
Edit: I am not a Legacy user so this was all new to me. I control this via either the LC App or the Universal Remote. Both work well but I discovered expanded functionality with the App. Was able to adjust sound quality of the whistle and bell (pitch) and do a few other things not available with Universal Remote. Cool beans.
Will try to get a video with some sounds up soon.

Well I ordered the Brooklyn version this morning because it has the best paint. This will be my second modern Lionel engine ever as my stable consists of MTH PS3 and a couple of conventional engines. Both Lionels will be bluetooth but the first one was a christmas set and the plastic gears fell apart after a couple of weeks of use, but this new one should work fine on my layout. I will use this switcher in the yard and for the mining operation that is in progress. I hope the chuffing smoke can be fixed so will watch for the fix.
Lionel might be accurate on the streaming smoke plume.

Regarding these docksiders:
I really like the look of them, but my layout has a segment where there is a left hand 022 switch, whose turn out track is then connected to a diagonal crossing, with the end of the crossing then connected to a regular straight section of track. I also have a segment where two 022 switches are connected end to end.
Given the nature of these two segments, I wonder if a small 0-6-0 would be able to cross over these segments at low or medium speed without stalling out in a dead zone or "hanging up" in the middle of the segments. Or, whether in crossing them, the engine would sputter, lurch, hick-up to get across.
How do your dockside 0-6-0s handle in your layout on these types of segments?

I'm not seeing what your problem is. Given the short gaps between center roller rails, I doubt this is an issue with the O22 switches. Do you have lots of issues with small motorized vehicles like track speeders?
My conventional docksider ran well over that switch. I didn't have any crossings to test it on though.
The little engine that could! Here’s the Granite Run Quarry LC 2.0 set. This engine is awesome! I ran it with legacy in tmcc mode. It actually has the water fill and steam blow down sound effects. Its hesitant at slow speeds but once it gets moving its more consistent. Smokes well, does not chuff. Cars do not have opening couplers but are nicely detailed with brake wheels and the side dumps work manually. Really glad I picked this one up! I’ll put up a video eventually. 
Got mine today. By itself it looks very good, on the layout next to other equipment it looks oddly small. Apparently that's prototypical though.
I had a consist of 8 freight cars plus caboose sitting on a siding so I hooked it up. Though its been reported here that the motor is small, but it pulled that consist. It was much lower than a freight car and looked odd to me, like an "S" gauge engine with O gauge cars.

My two should be in Monday, they're picking them up at Emery in the morning. I'm eager to plop them on the track and see how well they run in person.
Bill, they are supposed to be scale sized, it's just that the 0-6-0T was a pretty small locomotive.
Lionel's docksider is not based off of a particular locomotive exactly but it is proportionately scale. Just look at how small this one looks pulls compared to the heavyweight passenger cars behind it from 2013. Back in the day they would have never pulled passenger trains, they were switchers for moving cars at docks and industries. I have one of these from the original production runs, they were also great smokers and could pull trains much longer than real tank engines ever did.

In all of the discussions about these switchers, I totally forgot they were offering them as part of a set. Looks good. In fact those small dump cars seem very appropriate.
What to run with these has been something I've thought about since mine arrived last week. I was thinking some small ore cars would look good. Several to choose from...Lionel made a lot of them that came in sets of 3 and 6. And Menards just came out with a line of ore cars.

Here is the engine with a Lionel scale baggage car for comparison. I think ore cars would look great with these. Ive seen some small gondolas behind these engines on youtube. Also some logging cars might look good behind these!
I contemplated the set, but decided on just the PRR unit. Really like the set though.
No word from my dealer yet, but looking forward to it. Already have a conventional C&O that runs great on my layout. Hope the same from this offer. Eventually would like to switch the shell with the C&O one. Mainly because I’m a Virginia rail fan.
I run my Reading 0-6-0T scale switcher (same diecast model shell as the new LC+ 2.0 version) ahead of an MTH 40-foot Schaefer beer refrigerator car and an MTH Bobber caboose. Brooklyn Eastern District Terminal Railroad #15 0-6-0T operated on a waterfront yard and pulled 40-foot boxcars arriving on barges to nearby industries. A picture of BEDT #14 shows it pulling four 40-foot boxcars with no caboose. The Schaefer Brewing Company plant on Kent Avenue in Brooklyn was adjacent to parts of the Terminal Railroad.

Picked mine up yesterday. A bit jerky at the extreme slow speeds as mentioned above but otherwise a great little engine at the price point.

Nice! It looks like quite a few of us picked up the BEDT version.
A point to ponder for anybody considering acquiring one of these. As I mentioned above, I wasn't thrilled by the extreme low speed performance as it had a heck of a jerking movement (especially in reverse). This evening I started experimenting and dug out my older plain Lionchief docksider. Upon comparing the side rods I realized that the holes drilled through the side rods on the new locomotive were a good size larger than the holes on the older one. Ultimately this acted as though the wheels were out of quarter since the motor only drives the front axle. Due to this slop, there was a bit of binding at low speeds as the other two axles rotated in and out of sync causing the jerking motion. I swapped side rods and it seems to run much better all around. Perhaps Lionel didn't learn from the missing rod bushings on the Legacy Moguls....
I'm not sure if this will be an issue with all of these, but I've already seen a couple mentions of slightly rough running at low speeds.
I can verify that both of mine have the same issue. The fit is VERY sloppy, either the rod screw is way too small, or the rod hole is way too large! The rod bolt shoulder diameter is 2.8mm, and the rod hole is 4.1mm. That's a huge amount of slop, and predictably it causes the low speed performance to be very jerky. At least it doesn't do (at least so far) what the Mogul did and lock up tight! However, it cries to be fixed.
I didn't notice any running issues with mine but just went back and ran it at very slow speeds in forward and reverse.
Fortunately, it runs smoothly at any speed. No slop, no jerkiness.
I've got the BEDT livery.
Checked my side rods and very sloppy too. Holes way larger than the screw. I did not see jerkiness on a test run, but I had lubed the rods.

Mine don't always jerk at low speed, but it's not as smooth as it should be. The right rod bolt would fix it, but I can't find one that would do the trick.
I'm disappointed they didn't learn their lesson with the Mogul, you'd think a fiasco like that would have been remembered!

Based on SantaFe158's experience, one solution to the "jerk" is to replace the side rods with those from a previous version which could be obtained from Lionel. Any idea what the P/N of those side rods would be ?
Well, I just ordered four of the side rods and the rod screws from the original, so when they come in, we'll see.
What a revolting development this is. I’m really disappointed even though I didn’t even buy one.
