Buy anything cool lately?

From Menards, NS flatcar with Pepsi delivery truck and the free lighted C&NW stake truck. The C&NW stake truck is super cool. Heck of a deal for $24 and no charge for delivery to my local Menards.

Went to the Texas Transportation Museum a while ago for a car show. They sadly did not have any more in the gift shop, but the guy in the layout room did say the layout's Museum Boxcar could be sold. I've been wanting this one for a while now, even if it is used. But hey, its a rare gem already and even more unique in the sense that it was part of their layout!

Found a nice Railking RS-27 w/PS-1 in Penn Central livery.

Excellent buys everyone!  I was offered this Legacy Western Maryland GP7 by one of our good Forum friends at a price I couldn’t pass by.  Can't miss with the number 21 either. 

Trivia time:  The number was worn by my all time favorite athlete who I followed in my childhood and high school years.

Picked this guy up on a deal at a train meet in Hamburg, PA yesterday. Wish I would've arrived sooner- first Railking Railtown building. Always wanted one but the prices at one of my LHS are EXORBITANTLY  high and the prices on Ebay have always been high when one includes shipping. This was perfect price. Also, the shrubbery is woodland scenics(the trees) and it's affiliated label "scene-o-rama" which I bought from Hobby Lobby(not including the L-shaped piece). The L shaped piece was in a box I got from my grandfather's sets and is one I've seen on the Toy Train videos narrated by Tom Snyder- would be greatly appreciative if anyone could identify!

Also picked up this Corgi Heritage classics collection at a flea market after the show. My pop got my brother and I 2 of the 5, this is the 3rd. Part of my UN peacekeeping force

Amtrak 25022 from the F40PH set. From eBay. Lights up a bit more nicely and the body color is much 'cleaner' than my other Railking Amtrak coaches considering they're 2003 Railking

Picked these Scene-O-Rama(Woodland Scenics Subsidiary) Civil War figures up at Hobby Lobby, serving as militia against the in-coming UN Peace keeping mission,

While I also included this in the tinplate "buy anything cool lately" wanted to include it here as well since  I've been looking for this twin AA Marx SP 6000 for quite awhile at the right price and finally got it

Also bought this wooden kit for a dollar. Northern Refrigerator Car. Co 5770. Roof, sides, underside- all wood- if anyone thinks they may know the maker let me know as I've tried searching to now avail. My dad has a similar kit but that's not all wood and I have a Rock Island Kit by Athearn which is also not completely wood- my dad and I's kits have the labels on the side attached with the use of an adhesive, This box car has the lettering painted on.

This a Brass Williams shark purchase from a member here.  Well I think Williams just primed it in Grey and put some decals on. So I contacted a local painter I had seen on Facebook that had posted photos of a number of HO projects he had done.  So sent the diesel to him and this is result. He numbered it correctly for the A Unit  that ended up going to the D&H and visited Sayre frequently!  He also added window glazing, replaced the headlamp, repaired 2 chassis to body mounts, and lightly weathered it! 

Sunday went to the Hamburg meet, bought these items reasonably.

From what I noticed, prices at the meet were low.

@Trussman Nice pick-ups! Planning on making a park for mobile homes?? Looks like you have a good start. I went to the meet as well and also noticed the low prices, not that I'm complaining.  Also was impressed with the selection, wasn't expecting that much. If you plan on going to the July meet let me know!!! I most certainly plan on it.

Did you get the Railking trailers from the gentlemen with a table to the right of the entrance against the wall?? He had quite a bit of Railking Railtown Structures and also had a good amount of tinplate. I picked up a ton of items from him and 2 or 3 other vendors for really good prices. If it weren't for my job I would be more eagerly anticipating the meet on the 8th but I want to enjoy my time off 

Again, nice finds! And if you do go to the meet in July and would Just like to meet and say hi- let me know.

Hi Steve, The person I bought the MTH house trailers was to the right of the entrance, almost the beginning of the last isle along the wall. Almost every time I go to Hamburg I find some trains at good prices. If I don't find anything in particular I'm looking for, then I'll buy what ever interest me.

Yes indeed Bob on Roberto Clemente!  Any time I see any player in any sport or level of competition wearing number 21, I am reminded of Clemente who has been gone for 46 years.  I was a high school junior.   The impact a player can have on a kid is mind boggling.  

I have thought the same that the two Geeps would make a great double header.  At the time I had been out of work a while and hadn't even considered signing up for social security, which I finally did last month.  I sold a number of items to help pay for Christmas giving.  The GP7 was my only Legacy or TMCC engine, so I decided to part with it as opposed to another DCS engine.  I dug out the TMCC base and remote I bought repaired from GunrunnerJohn a few years ago, and #21 runs as good as #23 did.  If we lived closer we could get together and run them!!

Yes indeed!  I would have had to let Roberto pass on to some other modeler if I hadn't signed up!    It finally occurred to me that I have been paying in since 1974.  I had better start taking some out before someone else gets it all!

This MTH GN GP30 came today. It’s been lightly weathered and it has the earlier 5 volt version of PS2.   I was able to add it to DCS but it does have some issues.  Both couplers fire but neither will open.  The front one will open if you pull on it but the rear one remains closed no matter what you do.  No interior cab or number board lights.  The rear marker lights operate via the interior switch on the remote.

 I have always liked the Big Sky Blue livery and GP30s.

More recently purchased items to add later.

I’ve been looking for a copy of Lionel Display Layouts You Can Build by Roger Carp for a few years but, the crazy high prices or poor condition stopped me.  Found this one on Amazon for $38, it arrived today and it is indeed in good condition.

 Still high for a used paperback published in 2000, but hey, it’s a hobby! 

I bought this Lionel Rock Island 44-Ton Switcher made in 1993 (year I was born, so that’s kind of cool) from a friend. It’s got a lot of paint scuffs and missing a few of the handrails, but it’s still quite nice. Twin can motors with traction tires make it a good performer, plus it was only $20 so I consider that a win. Not sure I’ll be keeping the Wal-Mart credit card reader horn, though...

Received my Midnight Chief ABA "PA's" on Saturday. Thank you Pat's Trains and Lionel for this outstanding model. One day I'll be watching my PA's pulling my K-Line Midnight Chief passenger cars around my layout. Enjoy the pictures.

Mikado, I've got the 1991 PRR version with the same "horn" (I call it my 88-ton switcher because the scale is so off).  The sound was definitely a surprise when I first heard it.

However, one day at work, I actually heard a passing truck horn that pegged it to a "T".  Imagine my surprise that anything existed in the real world that sounded remotely like that. 

(I guess that means that I don't get to K-Mart often enough . )  Now I can enjoy your funny new card reader image to go with my funny horn.

Nice purchase, too.  These guys are a lot of fun to run.

Tomlinson Run Railroad

Received some things today, all K-Line.  A Fleet of Modernism (FOT) RPO to go with my other FOT passenger set, a K-Line diecast PRR gondola with great detail, some holiday cars (Christmas and Hanukkah) and a MOO TOWNE creamery ice cream shop (no trucks so basically a building) that apparently smokes (An ice cream shop that smokes? But will love the action!).

Great under-car detail (or is it under-carriage detail?) on the gondola.

Great looking engine, Larry! If you look at the rear coupler, there should be a little (rod) down inside behind the knuckle. If you get a screwdriver and push this bar back, you can manually open the coupler. This bar is inside the coils that allow the coupler to fire via DCS. This works on my Atlas C630, so it should work for you.

Arrived a few days ago from White Rose Hobbies.  Box corner damage is likely a packing/shipping issue.  Advertised as NOS and clearly has been out of the box before (lift ribbons under the locomotive), no signs of being run. Not an expensive item and will be a runner for me, so I’m happy with the condition.

These are great little engines. I have the ATSF model and it's one of my favorites. It even survived a swan dive to the floor with minimal damage. Enjoy! Don't be too disappointed when you hit the whistle the first time......

Okay, I need another MTH loco like I need another hole in the head  *BUT*  this one has been on my "most wanted" lis for years and years. I bought the nonpowered dummy unit years and years ago and I've been waiting patiently for the powered unit to pop up somewhere for sale.

I have the little tank engine with "600" on the cab & Spokane, Portland and Seattle Ry. on the tank. Neat engine. Had to buy the whole set of log cars just to get the engine.
