Just ordered it yesterday so no photo yet, but I bought a MTH Premier New England Central GP40 PS3.0 from Beth at Public Track Delivery. Funny, being out in CA she often has the most items available for New England railroad lines. I'd love to have a CT source but as some old New England farmer would say, "can't git there from 'ere."

Anyhow, stumbled across this engine as I'm starting to swap out fantasy Christmas trains for real life railroads.  Earlier this year I bought a used conventional Weaver New England Central GP38-2 that has no sound, no lights, no command control and thought about doing (more likely someone else doing) an upgrade.  As I was searching for the upgrade parts and instructions, a link showed up for MTH engine. Didn't even know it was a thing else I would have ordered it in 2020. Happy to find it. Now what to do. with the Weaver? Dummy engine?

Seems like the MTHRRC stuff goes for cheap on eBay, and, for that reason, they make excellent candidates for repainting. I’ve had the MTHRRC Crane Tender for years, and got the Crane off eBay for $20.

I've been looking for a Milwaukee Road Hiawatha Steam engine for a while now.  Thought I would have a chance at picking up a Lionel or an MTH for a manageable price today at the Stout auction.

Both already over the estimated prices with more bidding to go. I think I am going to be saving my pennies today for another time.  The 4 wheeler regularly moved in excess of 100 mph between Chicago and Minneapolis and that was in the mid 1930s. I cannot imagine running any of my engines at a scale 100 mph - that's blazing fast.

I was looking at the SW-1s they were off the map before the auction got to them! I did pick up a gaggle of Cabeese. I need a candidate for a repaint. Some are keepers. I also picked up a PRR MU set. They had the two boxes bundled so there’s four cars. Then I got some accessories for the train club.

I thought maybe the order might have been canceled due to a low order count but 21 months after I placed my order this showed up on my porch via UPS 2 days ago.  Pat's Trains came through again.  MTH SD9.  Runs great.

@pennsyfan  I've bought from Stout and Cabin and am fascinated at the "power" of live auctions. All it takes is 2 people wanting something to drive hammer prices pretty high. With fees the Lionel went for about its original retail price and the MTH not too far behind.

I did win an Atlas Santa Fe Dash 8 at a recent Cabin auction - still waiting for shipment.

Just got Wheeling and Lake Erie order from Pat's Trains

Managed to find a new Lionel Chessie T1 in stock at Nicholas Smith. Got the diner to go with it. As usual when Lionel makes cars years later (these went with the Vision Gs4) the paint doesn't quite match. It's not bad though, the cars are a little brighter. Overall I'm happy. Ever since I saw the MPC version of this as a kid I've wanted one.

I did run the layout today but thought I’d post this clip.

After years of looking, I finally found a mint, never used, Texas Special E-7 set, 6-31755.  With shipping, I actually paid less than MSRP..  The set comes in the largest set box I've ever seen from Lionel, it weighs a ton.  Can't wait until I get a chance to run this set at our club.

Well folks, I am going to take a chance and show you something...JUST FOR FUN!  It is nothing compared with the beautiful and really interesting stuff above.  Please don't be insulted, this was a chance encounter and illustrates how us collectors can be tempted by the smallest of things.  The assemblage below was found in a dusty basket at a local "garage" sale with no other train related items (believe me I looked!!) .  It was priced at 50 cents for the entire basket and I simply could not resist.  It will stay here at our summer place and be added to my front porch layout in the summer and under the tree at Holiday time.

So anyway, here is what may be the cheapest (and cheezyist) item on this thread.  A plasticville outhouse, a single manual plastic crossing gate, one glow in the dark lamppost and a telephone pole.  I am NOT claiming that its "Cool" this is just for laughs.

Sorry folks, this was just for some fun on a rainy morning.  It just shows that train stuff can show up anywhere!

Went to Charllotte NC with my family for vacation to see the Nascar Hall of Fame and while we were there I went to the Lionel mall store.  First, let me say the Nascar Hall of Fame was fantastic and if you are a fan, I highly recommend it.  Second, the people working at the Lionel mall store were fantastic.  My boys and I were there for 2 plus hours and the people working there were so nice to talk with and they spent a lot of time talking trains and Nascar with us.  Besides the bag full of Nascar diecast I bought for the boys, I got a few goodies for myself.  I have two engines on pre order so I held off from buying a new engine, but that was really hard.  I did get 3 cars off the discount table, a BN box car, a NY Central box car and a NY Central Pacemaker caboose.  Then I got two items on my list, the flat car with hand car and one of the new Anheuser Busch box car.  I also grabbed some people to windowshop outside my Lionelville Hobby store and some smoke fluid. The little hard car running on it's own around my town is so much fun.  My son got a hot dog stand for his HO set.

Definitely worth the visit to the store if you are in the area.

Anyways, here's the most recent purchase, a 3454 automatic merchandise car, both with original box, and original (black) crates! When I get the time, the new engines and rolling stock from the rest of the year will be posted, and trust me there's plenty to share!

That is quite a nice example of that car. The silver paint did not hold up well on 99% of them. Quite a find...

That's what I thought too, even better that the owner was there and made me a better deal on it! Paid $40 for it and $10 for a tender that will substitute for my 1615's until I get off my lazy butt and do a shell swap on the tender lol!

JEP 120 from France ( C1951-2 ) clockwork with battery operated headlight .. Battery goes in tender ....

I bought this bench yesterday.  I was told it was a train station bench from 1910...it is reversible...someone suggested it may be a trolley bench.  Either way, I think it is a cool piece and will be in our dining room and possibly used at the large farm table I will be building.  It is 8' 4" long.

@Roll the dice, Andy, that’s a great looking piece of furniture, looks to be in really nice condition and will be a good conversation piece when folks come to visit you and see your train layout. Thanks for posting, it’s definitely an antique. Good find. Happy Railroading Everyone

Nothing too spectacular, but I picked these up at the Edison show on Saturday.

Shockingly spent under $150. While I love the big tin station and Snoopy/Woodstock handcar, any of the modern era 450-style signal bridges are not very common at my local train shows, so this was a pleasant find.

This past month has been a little expensive.  Besides the E 7 Texas Special set, I was also able to pick up another long sought-after MTH's LIRR Route to the Fair 5 car passenger set.  Now I have to wait for Trainland to get in the Legacy LIRR C-Liner.

@Kent Locomotive Works - Wow that is really a super find.  The 3454 dates from 1946-47, almost as old as me (1944)!  That makes it 76 years old and the condition is really superb.  To find it with box and original crates is really a home run!  OBTW my collectors guide shows the car in that condition with a collectors value in excess of $100 ( and my guide is 10 years old) so you got a real bargin.  @Steaming Jon- beautiful Bi-Centennial locomotive @roll the dice - that is a neat piece of furniture and will provide you with a great story to tell to your dinner guests. @Mikado 4501- the Marx freight station is great, a massive piece of high quality lithography.  I have one as well...now your job is to find a place to put it on any size layout as its enormous!  @FrankRazz - that is a really neat set of passenger cars, the NYC World's Fair was one of the places the wife and I visited just prior to our wedding (1966).  @Fatman - another beautiful piece of tin plate.  The JEP120 was a great find.

I am taking delivery in the next week of a pair of new/old stock of Weaver Erie Lackawanna C-628's (#2500 & #2502).  Although to my knowledge, Erie Lackawanna did not have C-628's their roster but they did have C-424's & C-425's.  These 6 axle brutes will look so nice and will serve me well on the club layout.

I am still finalizing my freight consist which will be about 35-40 cars.  I am looking for some freight cars in different road names that are colorful and that would have been seen on a 1960-1975 Erie Lackawanna manifest to enhance the brown, grey, black, and maroon colors of the many cars I already have.  I am open to suggestions!

I love this thing! Despite sitting on one every time I travel via New Jersey Transit, it never occurred to me that reversible benches existed.
