These beauties arrived the other day - another home run from the great folks at METCA (and Thanks, Stu, @NOT LionelLLC for your help with my problematic address - no issues this time!!!).

Of course, when they send the cars, they just have to include a bunch of flyers with their other current offerings… and they are doing a pair of Brooklyn Eastern District Terminal flatcars with Boar’s Head Pup Trailers. Being a Brooklyn boy, I just had to order a set of them as well.

You REALLY need to stop reading so much Paul........

I just may have to follow your lead down the hill tho....

But Bob… after they take the time and effort to insert all those flyers in the box, it would be just rude to not read them

But seriously, the cars are very nice - good crisp graphics, nice applied details… I think you’d love a set

Picked up a LC+2.0 Lionmaster Conrail SD80MAC that Lionel put out a year or two ago. I have the version from 2003 as well - the tooling is identical but the electronics are a huge upgrade. The blue paint on the new one is also way lighter and the locomotive is actually quite a bit lighter than the 2003 version. I’ll post some pictures later. I wonder which paint color is closer to the prototype.

Just took delivery of my Lionchief A5. First impressions are generally favorable. Paint finish is quite nice, valve gear looks impressive and I appreciate the well detailed tender trucks. Speed control is very good, with smooth low speed running. Around mid throttle there is some odd cogging for a second or two as it comes up to speed. Hopefully this will work itself out with some run time. Sound was obnoxiously loud out of the box, the whistle sound vibrated the speaker like crazy. I googled how to turn down the volume , found out that by pressing both whistle and bell for three seconds, then using the speed control you can fine tune the volume. This was not addressed anywhere in the manual that I could find.

Headlight is very bright white, no backup light on tender. This is my first experience with electrocouplers and I was somewhat disappointed that they only release the knuckle. Was hoping to not only be able to uncouple from cars, but also pull up to one and be able to latch on. Is this typical of all remote couplers, or just a cost cutting on the Lionchief line?

All in all I'm pleased with my first purchase of the Lionchief line. I think it will work well switching local industries on the small layout I am planning.

Howdy Railheads!

This isn’t something new that I bought.  Rather a project that I’ve been working on.

This is the second freight car that I’ve weathered in my collection and I can’t wait to do more!

I know you can’t see it very well in the photos but I did weather the underbody and also weathered the axles and the insides of the wheels.

Couldn’t wait to share this with all of you

Oh I also picked up this steam era steel sided Santa Fe reefer from KLine for $15 from a train show in Houston recently! And get this it was brand new in the box too😁 wouldn’t recommend buying this for your kids these reefers are extremely fragile😬

Happy Modeling!

This is how they work. The EC's are spring loaded and are released when power is applied to a small solenoid located in the coupler arm. No way to shove mechanical closers in there too.

Nice loco. I have an older K-line A5. It's one of my favs.

I finally received my NYC Heavyweight Cardinal StationSounds passenger car, I really like it however it was not programmable upon arrival. It lights up and does the clikety-clack sounds. Lionel has sent me an RA already. I going to add this to my mixed NYC passenger train pulled by my rebuilt K-Line NYC Hudson. Hi guys, this could be along post so I am going to leave some of the photos small. I went to visit a friend I have not see for years and he had a bunch of stuff he just gave me, cause he see a video of my layout. I will start off with track and rolling stock.

First off he gave me 15- old Lionel curved track, I know what radius, along with 20 straight section, 1 uncoupler/unloader section, 1 cross and 1 RH switch number 042. I am not sure what kind of layout I could build with this, but I am sure someone out there has an idea!

Then for rolling stock he gave me a bump and go MOW car, a Lionel track cleaning car that I have never seen before. Here are a couple photos of them.

The for the normal rolling stock he gave me the NYC Double deck pig car.

IMG_20220307_101351

The R.I boxcar

IMG_20220307_101425

The A.T. & S.F. barrel car

IMG_20220307_101438

Along with this Pennsylvnia caboose.

IMG_20220307_101445

Last but not least he gave me the Pennsylvnia 682 with tender. The funny thing is I never seen a tender with a coal scoop on the bottom!

IMG_20220307_101457

I do have a question, does anyone know how to remove the broken stud you see here on the steam piston?IMG_20220307_101526

Then last but not least he gave me power to run it all!

IMG_20220307_101853

I would add more, but it's just stuff like 1969 UP Calanders, Great Northern and BN track maps, stuff like that. If anyone is interested in seeing them let me know!
