Hi everyone, its Friday!  Back when I was working that used to be important! (LOL). Steve Eastman - that was one "wild" Marx train of the future you displayed last week, Wow!  Krieglok beautiful Lackawanna GP - nice work.  Arnold - really like Blue Comets for sure. Ralph M - handsome PC diesels and RSJB18 that 0-6-0 tank engine is neat.  Strap Hanger - I liked you pictures of the NW-2 but will admit ignorance about what..."5 Volt PS2" means?

OK here is my input on this fine sunny Friday (at least its sunny here in Texas)

Here is the Lionel #204 one of the last engines made pre-war.  Uncatalogued and sold in sets only. Made 1940-42 although late production would have been halted by the war production restriction of 1942.

Here he is at the head end of an era appropriate freight, but not necessarily the only one.  He also came with the 2700 series lithographed cars from the Lionel / Ives transition period.

He was not the big fancy engine of the pre-war but he works fine, has remote 3 position reverse, headlight, and a whistle in the tender.  I should also report, that after 80 years he still works fine, especially on my small radius layout, and pulls whatever cars I wish.

Yes, all three PC locos are MTH customs. The third is a GP7. I used to bug MTH about them not making many PC locos but it fell on deaf ears so I made my own.

From what I can see you did a great job on the repaint and decals.  Which decal sets did you use?  Really well done.  I totally agree with you, I can not believe that a GP7 and 9 has never done in PC.  I tried to pursuade the owner of 3rd Rail to do a PC in his recent GP production but he seemed very apprehensive.  It seems all the recent PC stuff has sold out pretty quickly, case in point Mr Muffins recent PC GP30 speical run.  Maybe if someone is listening - Mr Muffin, Stockyard Express - Clyde, Pats Trains, Beth - Public Delivery Track - they will do a special run Penn Central GP7 or 9 with a couple of road numbers.  The could mark two sold immediately.  Thanks, Jim

One of the many arguments I had with Mike Wolf was about GP7/GP9's. This is probably the most common loco of all time on real and model railroads. MTH has made all sorts of geeps from obscure, one-off railroads and fantasy schemes but never PC(?). The PC locos they did make sell out rather quickly. Doesn't make much sense. I believe the decals are Micro-Scale.

Amen about mth production of PC GPs.  Penn Central to this day remains the pariah to many that loved the NYC or PRR or Northeast railroading in the period.  10+ years ago that was the majority of guy buying trains and they wouldn't touch PC, hence PC stuff sat and never moved.

Since then, the guys in their prime O gauage spending period of life (50s or younger - myself) grew up with PC or rainbow days of Conrail and like or at least don't hate Penn Central.

Some older retailers are with Mike Wolf and would rather product Aberdeen & Rockfisth GPs before they would ever consider the railroad that probably (not verified) had the largest fleet of GP7/9s of any railroad EVER.  They rostered the entire fleet of NYC, PRR and NH -YET- the only PC production GP is the Lionel MPC 027.

Maybe it's time??? Someone?

Here is a Williams 2356 clone with some SR passenger equipment on my old layout. The Wms 'Golden Memories' series did a terrific job replicating one of Lionel's most desirable PW F3s. Only noticeable difference is the scale-like pilot

HI everyone its F.E.F again and we all celebrate the end of the work week, at least for most of us.  Its still "summer" here in Texas with temperatures during the day over 90 degrees, but at least falling into the 70's in the deep night.  Today I have an "old and humble" front end for everyone.  I "discovered" him in a storage container that I had not opened in several years, so he has been patient.  Its the Lione 2-4-2 # 1110 "Scout" engine from 1948- 1952.  Die cast but other than that pretty much just a bare engine, although it did have a whistle in the tender (not the tender pictured ).  This fellow used one of Lionel's inexpensive motors that were pretty much encased in a plastic shell, thus not very repairable but inexpensive.  The power came from two copper "slider" pick ups so no rollers for this guy.

Anyway, here is the Lionel "Scout" from the early post war era.
