Which specific model and maker? My Vision Line NS one has no problems with any of the Fastrack or Atlas switches here or at the club.
us army mth 3gs21b and bnsf 3gs21b mtn both hi rail when going across two connected switches they just stop no power. i checked power on switch and they are ok.
Two switches in a row with nothing between them are an issue for some locomotives. I'd measure the distance between the rollers and then see where they fall on the switches. Chances are, you'll find that they drop right on a dead spot on the switches.
just got home will try that tonight, when i go threw fast they stay running but i would like to use them the rail yard. AGAIN THANK YOU
you were right dead when the roller hits the plastic off the switch only solution is crank it up when going threw. HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND
Although I've not experienced the problem (I have several Gensets, both MTH and Lionel), it seems to me that the easiest solution in some/many situations, and especially with FasTrack, would be to add one of the short FasTrack fitter sections (they come in various lengths) between the switches to separate them a bit.
I don't have any switches that are directly connected to a second (or more) switch, but on my FasTrack layout the Gensets perform just fine through the various switches I do have.
That's what I do Allan, I figured I'd first find out if it was the issue. I've seen it before, and your solution is normally what I do. Of course, that sometimes just lets one with slightly wider roller spacing have the problem.
good morning and GOD BLESS OUR VETS COME HOME HOME WITH GODS SPEED. tried everything this weekend with the gensets and a brand new new haven high hood and the same thing happened, tried putting in a extra piece and it did not work , oh well i am putting these engines up for sale all 3 for 750. oo.dollars.these are all o gauge mth engines they dont have two hours on them; again thank you for all the help, the engines are army bnsf new haven high hood brand new just out of the box. have a great day. light3ning@aol.com
Sounds to me like you are blaming the engines when the actual problem may be with the track or with one or more of the switches. How do the three engines perform on areas of the layout where they just traverse one switch? What size are the switches? How are the switches configured on the layout (left switch and right switch, two left (or right) switches, etc.)?
Yep, sounds like some work needs to be done on the track / switches before I would take a loss on the locos.
Check the rollers, make sure they are not twisted a little bit, in other words not completely parallel to the bottom of the engine. I had an MTH Premier SD70ACe that would not go through FasTrack O72 switches in a crossover that had this problem.
thank you for the response checked everything and have come to the conclusion that the rollers barely touch the the switch and the new haven cant make the o31 curve which is crazy.the big boys i have are es44ac and they run like a top.looked at all switchers and i think you might be right the rollers are a bit off line .i am calling mth tues and see what they can do,all i run is o72 and o60 switches very frustrated, thanks very much for your interest you guys are the best.will keep you posted on the results
