Hello,

I have a Lionel Scout, with a rear tender.  The tender is sheet metal, with no whistle function inside.

Problem is, that the coupler on the back of the tender is too big and chunky to work with the couplers that are  on every other Lionel car I have.  Pictures are attached.

How do I replace the rear coupler please?  What new size coupler should I buy for the tender?  (The big coupler is attached to the underside of the truck by a single rivet.)

Thanks for all advice.

You have been become victim to the SCOUT style couplers incompatibility with the traditional knuckle coupler. There are a few ways to deal with them all revolving around this central idea of replacing at least one coupler to make a transition which is usually done by the addition of a 480-25 coupler plate (either by part, or replacing the whole truck)
