Hello everyone. I just bought a Lackawanna K-Line Porter at an auction, and it only has the scale couplers. Does anyone know where I can get the traditional couplers for this engine? The auction did not have the box, so I did not get the part. Anything I should be aware of with this engine? Also, I think the headlight was converted to led? Is the original headlight still available? I posted some photos of the engine and headlight:

She certainly smokes well for her size!

I have several of the Porters, and just discovered yesterday that one of those I have is decorated to the Westside Lumber Company.  A nice "discovery" because it will go well with my Lionel 2-truck Shay lettered for that same road.  Both are now in my overflow display case and they look good together.  I don't believe anyone has made a WSL bobber caboose, so I am using an MTH C&S bobber for now.

I also have several War Dept. Porters, which fit well with my Army theme.

Unfortunately, you are correct.  I doubt very much MTH will ever do WSL for their bobber, since they haven't (to the best of my knowledge) ever done a WSL logging engine.

Lionel did just do the WSL work caboose, but that is probably too big to look good behind a Porter.

Dave:

As you noted, MTH has never done any WSL motive power so it's not likely that they'll do any rolling stock.  Kind of a shame since I like their bobber caboose.

I wasn't aware that Lionel did a WSL work caboose.  Do you happen to have the product number available?  I imagine it would look just fine with either the Porter or the Shay since the Porter is a pretty fair size (looks good with the Shay).

Allan,

Here you go: link.  (It only came out right between Thanksgiving and Christmas I think)

It's nearly a foot long, so probably around twice the size of the Porter (though I will admit not looking up the Porter dimensions ).

I picked up a few MTH bobbers that were offered at decent prices with the thought of trying to hire someone to do a custom WSL paint job, but never did pursue it to completion.

Come to think of it, I believe the Lackwanna ones were Lionel, I'm not sure K-line did that road name.  But unfortunatly, there are none of the ore cars in that livery.  Best bet might be the RMT ore cars in the Bethlehem Steel Lackawanna Livery.

Hope somebody has the molds, both for the Porter, and those great little mine ore cars.

BTW, thanks for the tip on the Pioneer tender.  Despite my line below, I think that would be a great look for one of my Porters (now up to 4!) and am determined to track one down!
