I just received my charger ordered on e bay - after reading the directions 3 times I decided I now need an engineer's degree to help me decipher the instructions.  If anyone is familiar with using this charger and can explain in "simple terms" how to charge 4 triple A batteries  i will be most appreciative.

I'm pretty sure that all you have to do is plug the unit in and then insert the batteries.  It should default to charge mode and begin charging after a few seconds (to allow you to change modes or settings if you want to).

You will know it is in charge mode when the word "charge" appears in the bottom half of the LCD screen.  When the charging is done, the top half of the LCD screen will read "full."

There is a frequently asked questions (FAQ) page on the La Crosse BC-700 page that is worth reading.

Andy,

I want to thank you also for the explanation on what a Smart Chargers is actually intended to accomplish.  I use to think these chargers did all the same thing, I appreciate the knowledge, even an old NASA Welding Engineer (PWE) learns from you younger guys, technology marches on.  Sometimes I feel like a kid again, not a bad feeling at all.

Paul,

You actually read the instructions, never knew you really had to do that.
