I have a 022 switch that has no problem snapping to let the train enter the inner loop but it will not snap all the way closed.  I seems to move freely but it just wont snap back. I am running 14 AC volts to it and my other one doesn't have a problem. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix it?

RRADDICT2,

IMO because there are so many good 022 switches available for more than a reasonable cost, at most any of the train shows.   I would remove and replace the faulty 022 switch.  Then work on the 022 to see what is actually bent or worn out.  Make the needed repairs and use it as an extra, if this happens with another one of your switches.

14 is a little low buddy!

Crank up the voltage.  It will snap at 18to 20

I would disagree! Cranking up the voltage that high is compensation for putting off a well deserved servicing at the expense of the potential to blowing blubs and melting components unnecessarily.

As for OP's issue, I would remove the motor shell and clean the contacts with CRC 2-26 or tv tuner cleaner.

I would love to buy some more of these switches so I will have to post and look on the WTB forum for them. We don't have but one train show a year here So. Cal and it is very far from me. I figured that since the left hand switch snapped great at 14 Volts that voltage was not my problem.  I will disassemble the switch and check everything out to make sure all is okay.

RRADICT2,

You will find once the 022's get some wear on them, even when perfect and clean, they take a little more power to operate correctly, what I have noticed over the years is the older and more used the switch motors are, they need a little more power to operate correctly, replace the original 1445 bills with LED's and up the power to about 15 or 16 and see what happens, you may not need to replace the switch at all.
