Trainworx Penn Station Arrives

FedEx delivered a massive 36-pound box today...  marked FRA-GEE-LAY... (my wife thought it was another full size leg lamp...see 'A Christmas Story').  The carton was clearly marked with a large label showing its interior contents...the outstanding Trainworx model of New York City's 'Old' Penn Station.  It's just an amazing piece of modeling, and words cannot describe the huge amount of detail.  This particular model is Number 5 of 250 produced.  It was very well packed and was received in perfect condition.  A number of photos are attached to show the box and model during the opening process.  Our cat, Puffy loves boxes, but it appeared that this one was just a little too large for her to want to explore.

 

A big round of cheers to the folks at Trainworx for putting together this stunning model !  I'm looking forward to future additional issues for the rest of Penn Station !  This one will eventually be displayed at the Whippany Railway Museum in NJ, where among other things, we have the only surviving example of a 1910 Train Indicator from 'Old' Penn Station:   http://www.whippanyrailwaymuse...nson-train-indicator

We finally have the Trainworx Penn Station model set up and ready for display at the Whippany Railway Museum in NJ which opens for the 2013 season on March 23rd.  A few photos attached of parts of the exhibit which is a little tribute to this amazing building.  A few more final touches and it will be ready for viewing.  As we say, "Grand Central Terminal may be grand, but Penn Station was magnificent !"

The Pennsy looks fantastic - we'll have to make the trip to Jersey and see it on display, that will be a real treat. Thank you for sharing on the OGR Forum the process pictures... from receiving it in the box to putting out on display - job well done .
