Weaver engine won't move

Does the motor run?  I have an early-90's Weaver steam that once had a universal joint failure.  The U joint is between motor and worm gear.  I don't know if your loco is set up differently.  If you have a tether between loco and tender, make sure it's seated properly.

Something could have come loose, such as the wire to the motors, or the radio board. Also, have you tried to run it in conventional mode (i.e. with the TMCC base disconnected? First thing I would do is check for loose wires.

Before you start messing with stuff, have you reset the command board?  It could be as simple as that.

I have a MR Baltic that pretty much did the same thing. It turns out that the tether wasn't inserted completely. Once I pushed it in and got a good connection, everything worked fine.

I had a problem with a Weaver diesel, a few years ago.
I contacted Weaver, as they were still in business, and they repaired/replaced the mother board.

Since, Weaver used TMCC,  I believe, Lionel might do the repair/replacement.

An excellent point. That's happened to me many times. 

I too have a Weaver engine that won't move. It is a C-630 Reading Lines diesel, it will act like it is starting but won't move. I am using an MTH Z-1000. Would a post war Lionel transformer be better? I had it working well with a post war KW about 3 weeks ago.  FYI; I replaced the original battery with an MTH PS-1 9 volt battery, charged the MTH battery first and checked it voltage, so I hope the battery held up, that was 2 months ago.

A Z-1000 in working order should handle it.  Even a Z500 can.  Maybe there's a problem with the Z1000 controller.  That is a fine loco--very durable.

I tried resetting the TMCC command board and it didn't work. He tether appears to be inserted properly so I guess it's time to open the engine up and see what is going on.

 Maybe I missed it but did you try it in conventional?

"Appears to be inserted properly." It can look right and not be making complete contact. Unplug it, reinsert it, and make sure it feels like the plug is bottomed out. 

Does it have cruise if so reset cruise .
