Baggage car converted for use as a MOW tool car?

Actually, that's probably a common practice. Santa Fe took things even further. Check out the boom car.

 

Matt, you are AMAZING!!!  The stuff you know; the pictures you have, seemingly at your fingertips--amazing.

 

FWIW, I have four heavyweight PRR baggage cars that are FREE to anyone who wants one and is willing to pay for actual shipping and be patient for when I can get to them.  They're all new; Williams from 20+ years ago, I think and, most importantly, I have no idea how I ended up with them.  I'm trying to get rid of "stuff" that there is no way I'll use and rather see it be used by someone than become a landfill casualty. 

Would be interested in 1 for a project.

Thanks for the great photo! GM&O did the same thing for a boom car except they left one end of the car and made a gon of the other end.

I knew this first open touring car car I made years ago had a prototype on the Niles Canyon Railroad in California.

Boom car made from 2 Lionel scale con's, and a scale  K-Line passenger car. Bottom frame is a 1/4" by 2" aluminum plate.
