cheapest tablet to run DCS?

Not a tablet, but I think an old smartphone will work. 

Any inexpensive android based tablet will work.  However results may be less than desirable as it may run slow and not be the best experience.

What is your budget?  That is really a better question that will help determine a proper answer.

This Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 would be a good option, my son has this and uses it for DCS.

You do need a certain version of Android 4. I want to say KitKat...but not sure.

But that goes back quite a bit and covers a lot of devices.

Might be nice if MTH would add the minimum system requirements to their DCS Explorer product page.

They're out there somewhere in another thread, I think.

But - the app should run on a lot of existing Android devices.

I have the galaxy tab 7. Fits nice in the hand and large enough screen to see/type very easily. Just the right size. Not much memory though so just got it for running the dcs app.

I picked up this RCA 7" tablet from Walmart.com about a year ago for $59 plus tax. The tablet comes with a keyboard case and can very easily be removed from the case if desired. I use it to run DCS (Mth App) and TMCC (BlueTrain App) at the club. works great. It's also good for web surfing on the commuter train.

Have you experimented with operating the app with a mouse?

And do the keyboard keys work for the app?

I pulled it out of my bag to take the photo. The mouse is for my laptop to the left of the photo. When I run trains with it, I remove it from the keyboard/carrier. They keyboard takes the place of the on-screen keyboard, but I've never used it when running trains, so I'm not sure what it will do (will test it next time I'm at the club, though).

I have the I pad mini, and it's just the right size for me. I'm a little partial with apple products. I have two I pads, and I'm slowly going with all apple products. They just work better for me.
