Owned a legacy system for 5 years and never hooked it up. I bought a GP7 last year an thought its time. I am using V1.3 software version. I loaded the module and addressed the engine as 10. The engine fires up, it smokes, it talks but it won't walk - just sits there. Won't run in conventional mode either. Both are soon headed to the for sale link unless someone has an idea - any thoughts would be greatly and truly appreciated. Would Lionel help ?

Be sure to check that the train brake slider on the left side of the number buttons is in the up position.

Did you disconnect power from the Legacy base and try to run in pure conventional mode? If it doesn't run without the command base in the picture at all, it sounds like a locomotive issue. I'm not sure I understand if you bought the GP-7 last year why you waited so long to see if it had a problem.

Hey thanks guys - some good info I will check. We moved so never had chance to hook it with the layout tore out. I will check out the brake slider tomorrow - tks.
Yes the whistle and bell work, it smokes and I can use some of the chatter commands, but it doesn't move. Won't move either with just the transformer.
strange thing. when I first loaded it after I hit set, the horn did blow and I loaded the module and it moved about a foot. Since then I tried a reload the horn won't blow hitting the set, but now after playing with it, as it sits there the horn does blow.
i make take the loco to a shop and have them bench test it, cause other than the slider I am done, but as always thank you all for the response. Will update you in the future.

Don't see that you mentioned it. Did you put the program switch back to RUN after setting the engine ID?
May want to try to assign a different ID and also do a Factory reset as detailed in your manual for the engine
Maybe the speed limit got set?

yup, engine in run, Tks again more good ideas will check speed and will try assigning a new id.

Don't think so, I know they are going to be doing an addition planned for next year! As the club will now be based there also!
In fact Lansdale is having their Founders Day this Saturday! We will be at the firehouse with the Modular Layout but there are the Train Excursions, Beer Tasting!!! Yum!, a Water Battle, and a whole lot more and even Fireworks in the evening!

The Henning's Train store is in no danger of closing, and as Dennis says, they're planning on a major expansion real soon now. It was supposed to start this fall, but the paperwork is delaying it probably until the spring.
