The add on cab2 was on the 993 charger overnight and now will not turn on.  The batters have good voltage and work with the 990 cab2.  I put new batteries in and it will still not turn on.  The 993 bas - came with the 1st Big Boy will not charge the cab2's.  No lights on or flashing.  This base has been back to Lionel to update the charging circuit.  Any ideas - fixes?  If I can not get them working - back to lionel in the fall.  Thanks Bruce

If a fresh set of Alkaline does not revive the Cab-2; then it probably needs to be serviced; sorry.

I suspect Jon is indeed correct, if it doesn't work with Alkaline batteries, it's dead.  He certainly should know.

The comment about "Damage can occur to the Cab-2 if there are no batteries installed" makes me a little nervous...

I don't think that is necessarily true with other chargers for other electronics.

B RUCE,

The same thing happened to me a couple of years ago. One Morning I pulled the CAB2 off the 993 ,turned it on and the screen was DARK. Tried new Batteries, but no luck as well. E-Mailed Lionel, they gave me an RA#. I sent it in (even though it was out of Warranty) and 10 Days later UPS delivered a "BRAND NEW ONE"! Unfortunately, you can't do that until AUG.1st, but I'm sure they will take care of you at that time.

REGARDS,
