Can someone scan and post the Trackmobile spread? I'd love to know how they're controlled and road names.

Looks like regular LionChief. I see no mention of LC+or LC 2.0.
Two "General-style" locomotives, Jupiter and 119, "Gold decorated" universal remote, Bluetooth, MSRP $549.99.
Also, there's a mention of two hand-crafted brass models to be announced in May.

The J3a’s are exciting. I will likely order one. I look forward to analyzing the catalog and following the discussion here while trying to decide which one...

Somebody mentioned a "Sherman's Hill" Set. Any pics or info on that one?

I really liked this catalog... picked it up yesterday from my LHS and was reading it all night. I think Lionel really moved the bar with this catalog... very impressive ideas!
I spent about 4hours looking everything over... now, what to order! So much I really love in this catalog!

This set is hiding in the back with the traditional stuff. Keep a lookout for it... i love this set!
If Lionel keeps their new trucks with thumbtacks on their scale equipment, it will save me money. I refuse to buy scale pieces with the ugly thumbtack.

Thank you Rusty....!!! Very helpful... looks like I’ll have to wait til May to learn about the nicer brass models
I have to question buying anything. Seems like more and more no parts replacements are the norm. I can buy pre-war, post-war etc but things from the past number of years....NO PARTS.

If those are manufactured similarly to the previous "Heritage" line (BFOC, John Bull, Stourbridge Lion, Dewitt Clinton, and Lincoln Funeral Train), I might be interested (depending on price). If they are more in family cost wise of the more recent "brass hybrids" then I probably am not going to bother.
I'm not sure what caused that "Heritage" line to stop (lack or orders, change of availability of factory, too costly to produce, people didn't like they were conventional (and only switch controlled for direction),etc?), but I thought they were all mostly pretty decent in operation and quality (aside from some loose passengers in add-on cars for my LFT).

I always buy lionel dummy diesels to run with my mth power units. CR repaints look interesting.

I’m guessing he’s referring to the ones you put on the track! But I’m just guessing.
Were any scale milk cars in the catalog ? If so that would indicate to me that they have finally resolved the tooling issue for these cars. I have milk cars going back years on pre / backorder.
Do my eyes deceive me? Is that really a Kodachrome Merger Scheme I saw? Not waiting any longer MTH (14 years since you cataloged a SF/SP failed merger Kodachrome piece). I'm getting the Lionel version.

I agree, these engines have peaked my interest quite a bit. As for which one I like the best that would be #5410, the one in the Pacemaker set. No white wheels or running boards and I don't see any disc drivers. Unfortunately, with all the reported problems with recent passenger cars, that tempers the desire quite a bit. The price for the set helps to temper the enthusiasm some too.

Theres a pacemaker set?! Anyone got photos?
I wished they offered one with the PT tender and all Boxpok drivers instead of mixed or all Disc. Of course they drop the ball completely for me if that awful silver paint from the last catalog find it's way on these or the PRR 2-10-4s. The just need to throw that paint out!
Can someone post the Hudson pages? Thanks

Ha! Yes, i leave the interpretation to the reader. Take the remark as you choose!
I haven’t read all the posts but I’ll ask anyway. Did Lionel go back to the hidden tab coupler?

I 100% agree about the nasty silver or gray smoke box paint. But, I’m not confident enough in my painting skills to paint a brand new $1500 engine. So, unless there is some sort of guarantee ahead of time that the proper graphite color will be used, I’m going to sit this one out.

I would not miss out! These will sell out. I will paint it for you... hmm may just set up a masking tool and do a bunch for people.

I don't see the thumbtacks on the PS-1 sound boxcars but that doesn't mean they're not there. Fingers crossed I guess!
One of the better catalogs in a long time. If the quality improves with no DOA's on the BTO's, and the parts don't fall off in the box, and the wires are not cut and shorted, and the hidden coupler tabs return on the die cast trucks, I just might spend my money on Lionel in 2019.

I agree with you bob but I will order nothing till I see it. If QC don't improve then the catalog is not worth looking at.

At long last I may finally get a Hudson to pull my collection of GGD heavyweights I've been collecting for a few years now.
Any chance someone could post a better shot of the five in the catalog?
Is it just me, or am I seeing a lot of the traditional stuff are 2018 items/not much new ?
Can someone with a catalog please provide me with the engine numbers for the two Lehigh Valley FA-2 units and the two Lehigh Valley FB-2 units?
Many thanks for your time in doing this for me.

Sounds promising. This was the rumor I reported. But I will believe it when I see it.

I was wondering about what "traditional" items were in the 2019 catalog. For that matter has anyone seen anything like a "conventional" set?
Certainly seems an ambitious catalog with lots of new products (LC+ 2.0), and new decorations on old products (the MTH approach ). Since I've been called out once again on the subject , I'm not gunshy about pre-ordering because (1) I haven't had any QC or shipping problems in recent years, and (2) I buy from a local dealer and Charles Ro and the latter two stand behind their sales and deal with any problems (almost non-existent, but not quite, over the last 25 years). I will note the bi-polar I bought many years ago had peeling paint and that loco was returned to my dealer and never replaced by Lionel. Hopefully these new bipolars will have better paint jobs .
"For that matter has anyone seen anything like a "conventional" set?"
As far as I recall, no such beast has existed for some years. Only LC control. If there are sets with LC+ or LC+2.0 in this new catalog, those will be the first conventional sets in some time. It does seem they are heading towards all new locos controllable by the app (Bluetooth), conventional, LC remote/universal remote and now, by TMCC/Legacy as well. Obviously the LC only locos, without + or 2.0, will only work with the dedicated remote, universal remote or Bluetooth, if they are still being made.
I don't buy much Lionel anymore due to the outrageous prices, and major quality issues and lots of useless electronics & gadgets I don't like or need. For me it's only an occasional piece of rolling-stock or accessory for Lionel, and a lot of post-war on eBay. But it does seem like they've phased out the low end market substantially. At least with this book.
This is a great catalog!
i will be looking to acquire as many Es44ac’s as possible...lol
It’s really a great time of year when the new Lionel Catalog arrives. However, I live a long way from my dealers, (frustrating) and hope The LCCA sends me one of the new Dream Catalogs Soon. It’s good to see so many Folks pleased with the offerings. Thanks for all the pictures posted, it’s simply Exciting....Happy Railroading.
NOTE TO FORUM MEMBERS:
At Lionel's request, ALL posts containing images of/from the new 2019 catalog have been removed from this thread.
Lionel asks that their official catalog release date of Wednesday, January 23 be observed, and even though I realize that some (or maybe most) dealers already have the catalogs on hand, they are not supposed to release those catalogs until the official release date. Recognizing how difficult it is to keep things under wraps in this era of instant communications, I nevertheless would ask that our forum members here respect Lionel's request.
Oh well. It was fun while it lasted!
