It's been a long week without any new Menards products...but. my credit card looks better

With all the flat car offerings, I'm surprised there wasn't one with Santa and his sleigh, or riding on a tractor!
Or even better a Menards delivery truck!
I'm certain my Dear wife kidnapped Mark until after Christmas! long after Christmas! LOL

Ha, thanks to your efforts in sharing the Menard's products with the forum (you really should be considered the Menard's O Gauge Ambassador!!!), my balance is a little higher considering recent purchases of the Power and Light Plant, Train Station, and Red Owl Grocery (along with a few die cast pieces).
That said, I too feel a bit of withdrawal as I think their products are quite excellent. Hoping their next building is another home run.
My local Menards store shelfs have been thinned out quite a bit, All the hopper cars and tank cars are depleted. Still have a lot of the Army rolling stock and the flatcars with Komatsu backhoes. The boxcars are mostly the green and blue pastel varieties and they have at least one of every building left. I think thats gonna be the last for 2016. I did order two more Milwaukee Road hoppers and the free UP trucks they should be in on Monday when the store gets its weekly delivery.

I finally made it to one of the new Menards that just opened in my area. I didn't get any train items, but they got me for some storage containers for some train things I already have. My those are BIG stores, you can't see it all in one visit!
You Know Bob, you do such a great job with the Menards Trucks changing them to whatever you wish. This would be a good time to take one of your engines and go the other way and make it a Menards engine for your Menards only layout. Then post picture and a video!
If we had Menard's here, I'd be there at least once a month, trains or no trains. The next time I'll get to visit one is June when I visit my hometown in Wisconsin. Maybe next Christmas I'll be ready to order some items online.
I hope Menards introduces another industrial building that needs railcar service!
I've searched already, but don't see this answer. Was there a group of NS "heritage" hopper cars announced? It seemed to me that the N&W, PRR, and RDG cars all came out of nowhere, and everyone knew all about them. Are there more like this coming?
It is lean times when there are no posts from Mark. But closing in on Christmas there could be an announcement or two that will knock our socks off sending us to apply for home equity loans to buy all the good things that will be coming from Menards.................Paul

Sounds like at this time, maybe, they will be on the planning stage at some point in time. but as of right now, no..

I do believe with all the products that have come out in the last few months, we could be in for a little lull, just like last year.. But.. who knows, Mark will surprise us when he knows. It's nice to know the OGR forum is the first to know when a new product is coming out.. Bob
I'm praying no new products come out until New Years, my cards can't take it
I love the heritage hoppers. Although, I really wish they would come out with a stock Norfolk Southern black/white hopper. I could see my layout with a nice, long modern coal train.
Twenty some days, before Christmas is no time to have a lull. We should be getting hit with three or more products a week. I wonder, if Menard's had several hoppers all set to be delivered, when so many flaws turned up on their Reading hopper. Therefore, putting everything on hold until the nesscescary corrections can be made.
Or else they are in Hanjin shipping containers!! LOL

I have never seen so many asking to be teased.
Reminds me of a frat house in my college days! Difference is Menards eventually comes through! LOL

Please don't get me wrong here, but Lionel or MTH doesn't bring out 3 or more products a week before the holidays. And , as for the so called hopper problem, many hundreds of those were sold with very little problems at all. As Mark said a while back, it takes over a year from product development to delivery and with all the Hanjin problems, the other products just may be waiting to get to the docks. just my 2 cents worth.. Bob

Having just dealt with delivery problems of an unrelated item, I can only wonder what stuff would cost if they were Made in America like GarGraves and Ross. If they can make competitively priced track here, why can't others make rolling stock here? I don't know what the profit margin is for GG/Ross, but it must be enough for someone to be content with their lifestyle.

A day at a time....LOL..just a start..
This is interesting. I put the engine house in my cart online and went to check out. It said the shipping was around $6. I forgot about the Union Pacific give away so I went back and added it. Another $10 was added to my shipping. So it's really not a free truck....LOL.
Yes, Menards has energized an otherwise static O-gauge structure market.

same thing happened to me so I just have everything shipped to the store for free. I am guessing you may not have that option ):

Nope. There is no store near me. I just removed the truck. If it were the Pennsy truck I'd have kept it.
Hi Everyone,
Here's a teaser for you!
I don't have an exact release date but we are shooting for next week.
Have a great weekend!

OH Cool! More military stuff for Bob! I just might have to jump in on this one! I need a lot of military stuff for down the road!

Yes....Like a large weathered coaling station/tipple for all the coal hoppers

You took it right out of my mouth, now we will see if it looks like my prototype
Troy, where do you get large weathered coaling station/tipple from a white star? LOL
Go Hawks!
Didn't see the military white star when I posted reply, Just wishing for coal mine station for years built like the quality of the seed and feed building
Got it!
It's either a military caboose,---- or a manger! LOL
The credit card bill came this week, wife was not happy. Had the Red Owl store and train station on it. OUCH!!!!! At least I bought them during the 11% rebate week! I originally decided against the station, but after I saw it in person, I had to have it. Had to rearrange some track to make it fit, but it it looks GREAT!

If this is a caboose release and comes along with another 11%, then your savings just earned you a free Military caboose !
Let her know that you couldn't afford not to buy em !

I like your logic, it is like getting trains for FREE!!!!!!
It's an Army helmet to reduce my head trauma from the skillet and rolling pin when caught sneaking new train purchases down to the basement.
LOL, I tell the UPS and FedEx guy to try and get here before 2pm, cause the wife gets home at 2:30. Doesn't always work!
Hey Mark,
Quick question, really like the buildings and the lights but was wondering if you might you publish a wiring diagram of the buildings so I could figure a way to dim the outside lights in the American Power and Light Station, Train Station and Red Owl. For example I would like to dim the lights on the Red Owl so the flashing sign light is brighter in comparison. If dimming isn't feasible, that's fine, just a thought.

I dimmed the Red Owl lights down by laying a strip of white styrene in front of the light strip to dim it down a bit.
Great idea. Thanks.
Thought about the Red Owl as we had several in Sioux City. I bought Woodland Scenic's IGA store last year as there were a few around. Room only for one.

As the army goes rolling along....Whooooraaaaa!
I stopped this morning at Menards to pick up my Milwaukee Road hoppers and two free UP trucks. I think I'll order online from now on because you get the nice cardboard boxes plus the plastic clamshells. I checked the store shelfs and notice this sale tag for this flatcar with sunshine bus, has anyone seen this? I checked the website and sku could not be found. So I wonder what this is?

Franktrain, nice pick up! If you live close to Menards that's the way to go.
My wife told me the mother in law went to Menards to get me something train car, building, something. Then she let it slip that she had them take it out of the box and put it on the track to make sure it was o gauge, LOL she didn't trust them and she doesn't know anything about trains! I had to laugh!!!
Can we guess who will NOT be customer of the week? LOL

I saw that a while back too. My GUESS is the bus painted in a hippie mode ..LOL
Lehigh Valley flatcar with hippie VW van perhaps? Lol
Do I remember correctly that in one of their die cast collections was a VW BUS with flowers and such! Maybe one of those on a flatcar?
Whatever it is, it will be received favorably.

No problem, just take a hooked screwdriver in the center of the load and it will pop right out. Some have a little glue, but not much. Bob

I'll keep you in mind. I was lucky to find it also.

Bob, I see the Midwest and Ohio rebate is on! Wake me when they're back to the free stuff!! LOL
Franktrain, those hopper look great, I just ordered the Pennsylvania NS set! How do yours run?
I'd like to see a large old time brick brewery. That would be a good customer for rail service!
play trains posted:Franktrain, those hopper look great, I just ordered the Pennsylvania NS set! How do yours run?
I have four of the MR hoppers and had one issue where the axle was out of the side frame. I just squeezed the side frames and fixed in axle and have had no problems since. I have been running on a 036 loop of fastrack that has some turnouts and have had no running issues. Looking at the trucks they may have some problems on 027 track with the wheels hitting the ladders. I'm going to get out a loop and check and see if the clear.
franktrain
I don't run 027 so I should be fine! Thanks for the mini review!
Well. it's Tuesday, do you think we will see something today? My credit card company called and said.. whats up? no transactions to a certain Menards account.. Mark.. help us out here !!!!
You mean they called to see if your credit card was stolen! LOL Everything but Menards, they think somethings up.
I was able to clear some shelf space over the weekend to make room. Waiting for this next release.... hopefully it's an army caboose!
Bob, maybe we can get Mark to just announce stuff at the meetings! They don't seem to working anyway! LOL

it's 2:21 TUESDAY..MARK...where are you????? I neeeeeed aaaa fixxxxxx..... LOL
Got give him a minute Bob, he checking your credit card balance. So he knows what he can soak you for! LOL
I hope its something great, cause if it I need it to be worth what momma is going to deliver when she finds out.
Bob, I feel like we should be having an intervention instead of an announcement ! LOL
I think that's what this is. They say a group talk will help everyone bring out what they need to move on! LOL
Great idea Mike! we can tell the Dear wives that we buy Menards train stuff as part of a therapy protocol! Eventually it may make us better husbands!---- or not!! LOL
III thinkkk immmmm tooooo farrrrrrr goneeeeeeee...please help me !!!!!!
I am certain that more Menard's trains will be coming. What I like about Menards is that as the undisputed price leader they are making the hobby affordable again. This is very important for any new individuals considering the model train hobby. Beautifully painted box cars, hoppers and flat cars with metal trucks for $19.95. They may be selling for twice what they cost to produce, but you still can't beat that deal.
I feel better now, running the Menards Special..

Love the video, but the tender doesn't match the engine!

Shouldn't be too much longer.
Maybe we should throw Bob a couple of box trucks to take the pressure off! LOL

Bill,
Cabinet Bob's correct. Our very first Menards exclusive flatcar was built by Lionel in 2007. However, we have been selling train sets in our stores for many years.
We have really expanded upon our selection over the last couple of years. I am excited for things to come!

Your gondolas with coal loads are just super. I thought about putting some real coal loads in them but couldn't find any that would fit. Any chance Menard's would get into the real coal load business, or does anyone have a helpful link to some?
I also thought about smearing the tacky glue on one of the ones that came with it, but need some more pulverized coal to stick on it so it is not too over loaded. Any idea where to get that?
Dennis Brennan sells a few different sizes of coal.
Hey Bob, I hope your sitting down. I see Mark the train guy from Menards was here and no release! Guess you will have to wait till next week. But on the bright side, it will give you more room on your card for more stuff!
This looks pretty good....
