Twenty seven Rail King engines surround the only Lionel locomotive on my railroad, a 6-18373 NYC S-2 Electric that was on my list of must haves. I tired of waiting for a Rail King NYC "S" Type locomotive with DCS, so I bought the Lionel one from a gentleman OGR Forum member. Thanks Richard for selling this great locomotive to me.

It amazes me that among so many many Hudsons, GG1s, K4s, N&W Js, Big Boys and Challengers, there are only two O-gauge offerings of the New York Central "S" Class locomotives. Joshua Lionel Cowen, Ives, American Flyer and others made the NYC "S" Class the icon of our hobby! Sadly, there are no prototypical O-gauge offerings by MTH, by Atlas, by Bachmann, etc.

My near term plan is to integrate TMCC with the DCS operating system on my railroad. However, as soon as my piggy bank permits, DCS PS2 or PS3 electronics will replace the TMCC in the S-2. I am skeptical about adding TMCC to my railroad because it uses vulnerable radio signal transmissions, and complicating matters there will be large second level platforms at both ends of my railroad.

Here is the maiden run of the iconic New York Central S-2 on my railroad. It is rescuing an IRT LoV train from the Hell Gate Bridge.

Oops! I almost forgot about this "S" Type that occasionally roams my railroad. It's a Lionel #153 with a pair of #607 Coaches and a #608 Observation in tow.
