Hello Everyone,

Need some help/advice from the MTH gurus here.   While running trains on our modular club display this past weekend,  one of my MTH engines was doing things it had never done before.   Background:   Our club uses a Lionel ZW-L for power and the four mainlines are all set up using the Lionel Legacy System(I use a Cab 2L remote).   When operating MTH engines,  we strictly run them in conventional mode and we have done this for years without problems except for the occasional individual engine glitch.   I attempted to triple head 3 MTH engines(20-20106-1,  20-20106-1,  20-2964-1 all powered,  all PS2-3V).   Smoke units are off,   switches are set to DCS.   All engines have BCR's and were powered up on the track for approx 2 minutes to charge before operating.   Before coupling the engines together,   I space them about a foot apart on the track and then throttle up to make sure they are all still operating at the same speed(I have operated these engines  mu'ed together before on different occasions without issue).   Once turning the throttle up,  one of the 20106's took off like a rocket while the other two engines ran at the same slow even speed(like they normally do).   I have no MTH power/control equipment at home,  so I gave the engine to one of my fellow club members who has an MTH DCS setup at home,  where he did a reset and restored the speed control to the engine.   However a new problem has cropped up on the rogue engine.   After powering up and running the engine (this is in conventional only-I don't operate in DCS),  it only travels for 3-4 feet and then stops.   All sounds and lights continue to work,  and the horn will occasionally blow one blast by itself(without me activating it with the remote).   However,  I can still activate both the bell and horn using the remote.   If I then turn the throttle up again,  the engine will move another 3-4 feet,  then stop and blow the horn one time again.   I pulled the engine off the track  until I can figure what's going on.   It's almost as if there is some kind of station stop that has been activated(if that's even possible on this engine).   Help!

G,

Thanks for responding.   Pulled the shell off and looked for the obvious.  Couldn't find any pinched wires or broken wires,  everything seems to be plugged in solid-this is going to be a PITA.   I'll have a local MTH tech look at it and if that fails,  I'll send it off to one of the MTH guru's here on the forum(like you G !)   I am NOT Mr electronics!

Nick
