Hi,

I've got a REV L TIU which has been back to MTH due to the variable track outputs getting fried, and it came back a while ago seemingly fine. Recently I've been trying to change the TIU address and have run into difficulties. I get a 'TIU ERROR' message followed by a 'TIU ADDR ERROR' message shortly afterwards whenever I try to change the address. I've just upgraded from 4.2 to 4.3, done factory resets, everything I can think of and no success. If it were simply stuck at an address it would be one thing, but it seems to be fluttering between address 4 and 5, with the remote sometimes addressing it at one or the other. Right now it blinks on power-up as address 4 but the remote reads it at 5.

Any ideas beyond another return to the repair shop?

Thanks!

Connect the TIU's Remote Input port to the bottom of the remote with a 4-conductor (curly) telephone handset cable.

Next, add TIUs to the remote so that the remotes has TIUs 4 and 5. Now, press the READ button and see what TIU Is found. Be patient, this may take a minute or two.

Post your results and we can proceed from there.

Thanks for the quick response, Barry!

I did what you said, and ended up getting a response on TIU 4, even though the version command was reporting on TIU 5. For yucks, I tried to change the TIU address to #1 against entry #4, and ended up getting the same errors, but the TIU seemed to relocate itself to #1. Another change back to #5 worked without a problem afterwards. Kind of curious why it ended up in that weird state, but now that it's working there's nothing left to diagnose...

Now onto my next frustrating adventure with DCS - getting engines back into the remote that were working a month ago but are refusing to be acknowledged by the remote. I repurchased the DCS Companion this morning (had an earlier copy, but changed email addresses and couldn't find any trace of it), and will now go thru and see if there's any advice on this issue...

I'd spend more time with the trains if things were more stable...

Thanks again!
