I finally got my Vermont Railways Atlas GP60 to run like it should so I could MU it and get that VT marble train rolling again. I prob had that engine apart 6 times. No longer a shelf queen, many thanks to help from gunrunnerjohn

We rescheduled the Zelienople club meeting Friday because of ice and snow, so I thought I would get some work done using that Styrofoam I bought for scenery base. I was checking out an MTH engine I am passing on to a local modeler and noticed the rear marker lights weren't lit. I fiddled with it a long time, and discovered the springs that are located in the shell that complete the circuit by touching contact plates when the shell is on had slid up in their housing enough to not make contact. Giving them a little stretch fixed the problem. I couldn't say for sure if they had always been like that. Now it is ready for delivery this afternoon. All that to say, no progress on the scenery. 
Mark, your example is what so much of this hobby is about. You gave up your own time to ensure that your friend inherits a model that is as perfect as you can make it. I wish more people would exhibit values such as these.

Thank you Bob. For this tree, I used some leaf material from a company called Selkirk Scenery. Unfortunately they are now out of business.

I worked on the tunnel, don’t love the shape it reminds me of the old styrofoam tunnels that pop up outa nowhere. But hey it’s a toy train so be it. Also burned my **** finger on a hot hot glue gun. Oh well must suffer for art I guess….

Boy I can feel that .........I've done that on my soldering iron ........aargh.
Today I finally installed An MTH Esso Gas Station that I purchased used last summer...its working great and it feels great! :-)

Well not all fun, but the Grandkids are coming Saturday to shake woodland scenic dirt and grass on the tunnel, they already did the darker part shown. Oddly when the kids are around NO one gets hurt.
My Lionel Dreyfus Hudson has been waiting to be upgraded for over a year now. Finally got it done and let it air out on the layout.

That's going to be a really nice layout when finished. The passenger cars look great on those broad curves.

Thank you, Bob! Actually, I owed it to him. I told him everything worked, then tried it out one more time before boxing it up. I'm glad I caught the problem, since I hadn't noticed it before. I met him today where he got off the Pennsylvania Turnpike exit nearest me. He told me he would let me know if something doesn't work.

Well, it did, right on the roundhouse roof. Paper and water do not mix well.
My neighbor’s pine tree dropped a limb thru the upstairs where it couldn’t be seen. Found out when we noticed a problem with the roundhouse roof. It consists of 35 panels, all different, and all specifically measured and cut to fit. Not fun.
Roof panels wet.
Knee replacement scheduled for 2/14 and I couldn’t get on the roof. Damage found and repaired by man who does most of our work. Not leaking thru several rain events.
Two weeks ago, bad storm and blowing north about 35. Was in the train room and all was well. Working and suddenly realized that I was hearing a dripping sound. Evidentially the high wind had blown up a shingle and found further damage two feet from the first.
Removed roundhouse roof again, called roofing contractor who was here first thing the next morning. Fixed in two hours.
Two storms later and no further damage so Rich and I went thru the panels Friday and nine of the thirty-five had to be replaced. Finished the job yesterday.
Trains are like boats; always something going on.

Bill, I am sorry to read you had so much trouble with damage to your house roof! It is so ironic that the roof leak dropped water right on the roundhouse roof! It is disappointing, but I can see it could have been so much worse.
I'm praying your knee replacement and physical therapy goes well. It is impossible to say where I would be without my left knee replacement given I have so much trouble with the right leg sciatic nerve. Will Rich be coming in doing things on the layout while you can't get to it? Paula may work on details and you won't recognize it.

A huge family owned 3 rail layout in North East Ohio:
Progress continues.... on the Freight Warehouse Kit Bash. Spent a good bit of the weekend, painting individual bricks, weathering the walls, and working on the mortar lines. I didn't like the first 2 tries, so they went to the sink and got scrubbed clean for "do overs"..... The mortar lines got way too large and prominent when I used the lightweight spackling. Ended up doing multiple acrylic washes, very diluted, so I could highlight the mortar lines, but not have the wash completely bury the contrast in the brick colors.
Now that all the walls are glued up and everything is square, I am going to paint the interior walls tonight, then cut some plexiglass for the Lower single story roof, I am using plexiglas, so when I place the sawtooth roof window (skylight) panels the light will pass through to the interior and vise versa.
Just about have the elevation figured out so the ware house doors/interior floor elevation, lines up with boxcars and semi-trailers. Don't think I have forgotten any major details at this point. I am doing this building in 2 separate pieces, the single story is one section and interlocks with the 3 1/2 story section. If it ever needs to be moved and packed in a box, it has a better chance of surviving in 2 pieces.

I can’t play the video - it shows a time of 0.00. I had the same issue when I tried to record some videos on my recently acquired iPhone 13. Unfortunately, I haven’t found a solution to the issue

Oh how interesting. Thanks for letting me know, Paul. Are you trying to view it on a mobile device, or on a laptop? I ask because I can see it fine on my laptop but it doesn't seem to work on my phone. Perhaps the site doesn't support the HD software used in the recording?

Works fine on my ancient Mac Pro tower. You might wanna try something like https://www.anymp4.com/ to convert the .MOV file to .MP4...

I use an iPad to view the forum. When I had issues a couple of weeks ago, I believe someone that they were using a computer and couldn’t play the video. In my case, my videos play fine when viewed as a video on my iPhone or iPad, but not when uploaded to the Forum. Most annoying!!!

Yes, strange that when viewed on the OGR site, the video plays on some devices but not others.

Tried on my Galaxy S8 and it won't play on that device or my PC. I believe its the .mov format.
Apple marches to a different beat and the PC/ windows world can't dance to it......
