I am having an issue with an operating track section. I have two of roughly the same vintage both are wired identically to the stock controller and using a constant voltage source rather than track voltage. One performs normally without any noise both the uncouple and unload function work. The other the uncouple is working though there is a loud 60 cycle hum when it operates and unload does not function at all but there is a faint hum.

Given that the wires come up through the floor of the layout its hard to be certain the wiring is correct but I am fairly certain it is. Any thoughts on this would be helpful.

Thanks!

Thanks John, but already tried swapping the switches I haven't yet opened up the track but I wonder if there is some sort of issue inside the track with grounding possibly. Out of curiosity you mentioned the switch is complex how so? I would have assumed it was just two reed switches with the lever pushing a rocker between to close one side or another. I suppose I could just pull one of them apart to look but as I am already not looking forward to pulling the track section to bring it to the bench assuming the switches aren't the problem I am reluctant to unthread the wire to remove it from the control panel as it does not appear to be the problem.

Another bit of curiosity how real up state is your real, for about half a dozen lived outside of Utica.  Miss the area but not the weather don't think these old joints would enjoy it much.

All the best

Marty
