Work continued this week on the new train station complex. We added trees, gooseneck street lights, fountains and accessories. We are finally getting near the end of a three month project to give the layout a bit of a facelift. Click on the photo to get a full view.

Some nice layout photos great detail!

Some photos of the Montana Rail link passenger train. They are thinking of running this from Spokane, WA  to Billlings Montana. A nice scenic part of the trip that Amtrak only does at night. It is currently sitting on the old BC Hydro railway line in B.C. just north of the border and ran a trip a week or so back to the valley. MRL runs this line known as the SRY short line Check out the Trains Magazine from June 2013 for an article on MRL. The rail cars have been getting rebuilt locally. Note the Ex Southern Pacific car with the shared common truck between cars.

The elevated rail line in a couple of shots is the BNSF mainline from Seattle to Vancouver where Amtrak runs just south of the Fraser River bridge, so you would see this train from Amtrak if coming into town.

 Looks like a pretty sharp trainset, this would make a nice short train to model in O with a MRL loco, MTH has done a few of these;

Here are some photos of a spare bedroom with a train make over. Added a loop of track around the ceiling. Thomas works well here for the kids can walk around the room with his remote. Have to add some trim along the edges then some plastic strips to keep trains from falling off in an accident. So can lay in bed and run the trains!

Perfect for smaller vistors or the kids at heart!

I used some old train boards cut for other projects. One part had white foam board glued to the plywood, and a loop of gargraves glued with ballast to this. The other sections I used carpet underlay bits on the plywood and the 2nd loop behind or outside track I added a layer of carpet bits on top to give it a slight bit of extra height to be better visible from below.

When the trains run on the carpet or underlay very very quiet, noisy when the front track hits the short section of foam. May have to change this out.

At work now, and not a lot of pics here to choose from today...here's one taken on my cell phone of a lonely stretch of track in a rural area just west of Mifflintown on Middle Division of the famed "Standard Railroad of the World".  In the distance a work train sits on a siding.  Note the rock work that portrays a limestone shelf hanging over a layer of soft weathered shale.  "Often seen, seldom modeled"...
