My new flying salami arrived this week & boy its big, longer than 2 scale GG1`s.
Work continued this week on the new train station complex. We added trees, gooseneck street lights, fountains and accessories. We are finally getting near the end of a three month project to give the layout a bit of a facelift. Click on the photo to get a full view.

Some nice layout photos great detail!
Some photos of the Montana Rail link passenger train. They are thinking of running this from Spokane, WA to Billlings Montana. A nice scenic part of the trip that Amtrak only does at night. It is currently sitting on the old BC Hydro railway line in B.C. just north of the border and ran a trip a week or so back to the valley. MRL runs this line known as the SRY short line Check out the Trains Magazine from June 2013 for an article on MRL. The rail cars have been getting rebuilt locally. Note the Ex Southern Pacific car with the shared common truck between cars.
The elevated rail line in a couple of shots is the BNSF mainline from Seattle to Vancouver where Amtrak runs just south of the Fraser River bridge, so you would see this train from Amtrak if coming into town.
Looks like a pretty sharp trainset, this would make a nice short train to model in O with a MRL loco, MTH has done a few of these;

Here are some photos of a spare bedroom with a train make over. Added a loop of track around the ceiling. Thomas works well here for the kids can walk around the room with his remote. Have to add some trim along the edges then some plastic strips to keep trains from falling off in an accident. So can lay in bed and run the trains!
Perfect for smaller vistors or the kids at heart!
I used some old train boards cut for other projects. One part had white foam board glued to the plywood, and a loop of gargraves glued with ballast to this. The other sections I used carpet underlay bits on the plywood and the 2nd loop behind or outside track I added a layer of carpet bits on top to give it a slight bit of extra height to be better visible from below.
When the trains run on the carpet or underlay very very quiet, noisy when the front track hits the short section of foam. May have to change this out.
At work now, and not a lot of pics here to choose from today...here's one taken on my cell phone of a lonely stretch of track in a rural area just west of Mifflintown on Middle Division of the famed "Standard Railroad of the World". In the distance a work train sits on a siding. Note the rock work that portrays a limestone shelf hanging over a layer of soft weathered shale. "Often seen, seldom modeled"...

Who makes this little truck....I would love to have one of these for my layout.
Everyday is a busy day on the railroad.
Marty, I see the superintendent was on the scene.
Rick
Roger....that REA truck I believe is an Ertl product. It was made in several different REA paint schemes. I have one with different graphics...
Alan
Great pix, everyone!
Dr. Schorr: Wow.....you nailed Central Pa. as well as I've seen it done! BRAVO!! Tom

Terry It`s all woodland scenic stuff & PVA white glue and as you say easy.
Looks like the best Photo Fun ever!
You Guys are awesome!
Got some customer items in today, I’ll post my new MTH GP-35 B&O’s during the weekend when I can finish them.
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PK4, Neal, Ray!
Since Steve Eastman has gotten me way too far into tinplate I thought I would post a little video that I sent to him of my newly acquired 256. It is so big that it almost looks like a narrow gauge standard gauge engine with it running on part of my Fastrack layout.
Rick, who is better qualified to check catenary than a cat? Good pickup, I was wondering if anyone would catch that.
Marty nice job. I have the "Grand" kit I'm just starting and the round corner building that goes with it. I wish B/J Traction was still in business.
Here's a little Red, White and Blue. Don
Don, I could not take the fiber optics that came with the kit. I drilled 105 holes and have two LED circuits that flask on and off looking like chase lights.
Yea, Marty I'm going to do something like that myself. Maybe use Miller's Neon. I wish Miller would make a "Grand" neon. Don
Happy Memorial Day Weekend! A BIG Thank you ,to all who served and from them handed us the greatest country on earth.
Watch those switches!
Patrick.....love the poor engineer sitting on the floor of the cab! Scrappy wasn't anyplace around was he? Poor guy is probably wondering how to explain this one! Guess reverse would not help much huh?
I posted pictures of a little project I have been working on. I have beenbuilding some Walthers North Shore cars I was looking for a way to power them. for the past week I took what I do for a living and applied it to my hobby, as I needed some motorized trucks for my North Shore Cars. The power trucks needed to have a 7'6" scale wheel base with 36" dia wheels, no problem yo say, NOT!!!!, well that was until today. I placed an order with shape ways for a two part housing from 3-d Cad files I created. Here are a few pics from earlier today.
Not a bad start I would say but when I uploaded the file it said the cheapest material was 35.00 plus shipping for the two housing halfs, so back to the cad I go, a little shaving a little tweeking i got the price down to about 25.00 so my order was placed
so in a few weeks when I get the two parts I can put it together and see if it works
Subway build.....1st cost of a concrete-like color before weathering.
I may have to add some spackle or wood putty and respray the large retaining walls to hide the wood grain.

Those 256 locomotives are big, but I like them. Thus far I have three: Red, blue, and orange. I imagine I'll spring for more if they come out with another new color or two.
Earlier in the week, I saw part of an extremely long Wheeling and Lake Erie train with what I am assuming are empty cars of frac sand and loaded ones of ethanol. We didn't get the whole train because the engines were out of sight on top of the hill. This was taken over Rt. 88 in Castle Shannon.
Got the MTH Water Tower repainted and it is back in place on the Mid Atlantic Railway System. Here are a couple of photos taken this morning.
Hope everyone has a great Memorial Day Weekend as we remember those men and women who died while serving our country in the armed forces. Bo
Everyday is a busy day on the railroad.
Especially when Catzilla is coming over the hill!
I'm always in awe of most of the pics people lay down in this thread. Icons in the hobby like Marty, Norm and others are so inspiring. I'm 66, moving toward completing my first real layout with scenery and extensive wiring, etc. I'm not a hi-railer or scale guy, but I try to capture the spirit of the mid-50s Lionel that I'll always enjoy. Recently I took apart my Wabash Bluebird from Lionel and painted and peopled the interiors... My adopted kids have become train freaks like me and help me get the most out of operating my Lionel, K-line and Williams trains. Click on photos for better looks...

Roger
The truck was made by Ertl along with a Diamond-T tractor-trailer for Dicast Direct in 1989 or 90. They sometimes show up on e-bay.
If you want to keep up on O scale vehicles, I have been posting a weekly blog "O Scale Motor Chronicle"on the subject.
