At the Big E I saw a production model of the 3RD Rail FL-9 New Haven. Ron of Ron's Books told me that the New Haven Railroad Society

has seen it and they are raving about it. I just ordered one. If you are a three rail New Haven fan, get on your pony !! This is a surefire sell-out.

It is gorgeous. Here is a heads up for you. I will admit it is just word of mouth, but a head's up is still a heads up. Watch for unpowered units at about $375. They are, as of now, not yet announced. If you get one, throw me a bone. Rrrrrrrrrrruff, rrrrrruff.

As much of a fan as I am of the Penn Central, I was never really big on the "MTA" look, although I can certainly understand its appeal to others. Who am I kidding, I would probably still reserve one if Scott announced it

Also, PC 5011 (the 3rd Rail model) was indeed painted in the usual scheme. Not sure if it ever pulled freight, but that's what it'll be doing on my layout until I get around to ordering the MTH Penn Central passenger cars.

I only noticed one thing on the 3rd Rail model, and I may just be imagining it, but does anyone else notice the mating worms are too "sharp" around the corners? Certainly not preventing me from purchasing it either way.
