Well, just how did that happen, since there were no electric wires over the tracks, ANY TRACKS, between Washington, D.C. and New York City?

Ok lets dissect the statement of the OP...

The first US train with an electric loco was the B&O RR Royal Blue Line.  The Royal Blue Line made its initial run from DC to NYC.  It does not state that the electric loco made the entire run.  Just that the train did use an electric loco...further research showed that occurred at the tunnel.  Moving on...
