Space satellite transport train

Or a REALLY fast train. 377 mph? You ain't seen nothing yet! Light it up!

I looked at this when building my series of space exploration rocket cars.  I would love to build, it, but it is to big and wide of a rocket.  

 

These are wonderful photos and it was quite a rocket - and train!

The satellite appears to be self-propelled. That would make a neat addition to the layout. I see Lee already has the wheels turning, or would that be stock rolling, or models building.  If I had a clue where to start I might try one myself, maybe make a launch pad site or something. Really is a neat looking gadget.

Lee- I've seen photos of the helium box car that have been modeled, do you know if they were kits or production. I'll find a photo to post.

Is the reefer with the safety rails custom?  I haven't seen that one before.  Tell us more.

 

 

Probably custom but they are prototypical.

I have not seen the boxcar with the circular clearance framework available commercially, but it is easy to make.  I made mine with some Plastruck beams and styrene strips.

 

Space exploration stuff is fun and different.  Here is a link to my posting of progress so far on other stuff.  Still would like to add a Vostok rocket on a car(s) - very impressive rocket, but as I said it is way too wide.
